Cons of Yamaha Mariner 40HP Outboard Carburetors (6E900):1. Age: These carburetors were produced between 1986 and 1992, which means they may have experienced wear and tear over the years, potentially leading to maintenance issues.
2. Obsolete Technology: Carburetors have largely been replaced by fuel injection systems in modern outboard engines, which can offer more precise fuel delivery and better fuel efficiency.
3. Potential Performance Issues: Older carburetors can experience issues such as poor idling, rough running, or difficulty starting, which can be frustrating for boaters.
Ending Conclusion:While Yamaha Mariner 40HP Outboard Carburetors (6E900) offer reliability, power, and fuel efficiency, their age and potential performance issues are important considerations. If you're looking for a reliable outboard engine for a medium-sized boat and are comfortable with potential maintenance issues, these carburetors could be a good choice. However, if you're looking for a more modern engine with better fuel efficiency and fewer potential issues, you might want to consider a newer model with a fuel injection system.
Recommendation:For a more modern and efficient outboard engine, consider a newer model from Yamaha or another manufacturer with a fuel injection system. If you're set on a carburetor, make sure to have the engine thoroughly inspected before purchasing to ensure it's in good working condition.
One carb is missing an adjustment valve. I'm sure it could be taken out but I just didn't. Was broken off from tightening down to tight I guess. The other is good to go.
